Peter’s curiosity began during childhood summers tramping through Nelson Lakes and Mount Aspiring National Parks. Although he was discouraged from studying biology at high school, an inspiring genetics lecturer at university changed his path. Today, Peter investigates some of biology’s biggest puzzles and uses genetics to support kākāpō conservation. His journey shows how curiosity, a great teacher and the courage to follow your interests can lead to an extraordinary career in science.
