Dr. Phillip Wilcox is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Quantitative Genetics at the University of Otago. He specialises in genetics and statistics, focusing on genomics and bioethics within the context of Te Ao Māori. Dr. Wilcox has been instrumental in developing frameworks for engaging with Māori communities in research, including co-founding Te Arotūruki, a step-by-step process for scientists to dialogue with Māori effectively. He also co-leads the Aotearoa Variome project, aiming to build a database of genomic variation among Māori to bridge the genomic divide and improve health outcomes.
