Jan Wikaira is an inorganic chemist and educator whose career spans over six decades, encompassing roles from primary school teacher to senior lecturer at the University of Canterbury. Specialising in X-ray crystallography, she has made significant contributions to the analysis of small molecules and macrocyclic complexes. Her work has extended beyond academia, providing crystallographic services to institutions across New Zealand and internationally. In addition to her scientific endeavours, Jan has been actively involved in science education and has a strong interest in Māori and Indigenous studies, reflecting her commitment to integrating cultural perspectives into her work.
