Nona Hohepa-Taute is a civil and environmental engineer dedicated to integrating Māori values into geothermal engineering. His research focuses on developing frameworks that incorporate social, environmental, and cultural impacts into engineering assessments, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional Māori knowledge and modern engineering practices. Through community-based research and wānanga with iwi and hapū in Rotorua, Kawerau, and Taupō, Nona strives to create decision-making tools that reflect Māori perspectives, ensuring that engineering projects align with the values and needs of local communities.
